    Who are we?

SEDMA is an interest association of legal entities with the official name Slovak Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Diagnostic Medical Devices "in vitro" SEDMA. It was founded in March 2008 pursuant to Section 20f et seq. of the Civil Code by six companies operating in the healthcare sector in the Slovak Republic.

SEDMA is registered in the Register of Interest Associations of Legal Entities maintained by the District Office Bratislava 1, Staromestská 6, 814 40 Bratislava 1 under the number OVVS/10604/2008/BC-3-TSK dated 12.3.2008.

The SEDMA Association, operating in the Slovak Republic, was established with the aim of supporting its members in supplying products guaranteeing high quality healthcare, health protection and state-of-the-art diagnostics. It has an open structure and intends to promote the common specific interests of its members in negotiations with users of laboratory diagnostics and instrumentation, professional associations, patient organizations, health insurance companies, state institutions, the National Council of the Slovak Republic, ministries and other partners.

SEDMA supports high ethical standards in the field of in vitro medical devices, provides information for healthcare professionals and has the ambition to participate in process proposals and expertise in matters related to medical devices, including harmonization with the principles of the European Union.

Sedma was founded with the aim of becoming the Slovak branch of the European organization EDMA - the Association of European Manufacturers of In Vitro Diagnostics, and thus to participate in events in this market segment on a pan-European scale. EDMA, established in 1979, has been associated with the Eucomed association, which brings together medical device manufacturers, in the transnational alliance MedTech Europe since 2012. This alliance promotes common interests in the field of medical devices and technology.

Since its inception, SEDMA has been actively involved in the latest trends and innovations in the field of in vitro diagnostics. These include advanced techniques such as next-generation sequencing (NGS), the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve the accuracy and speed of diagnostics, as well as the development of new point-of-care testing (POCT) methods. These innovations play a key role not only in diagnostics, but also in patient treatment, and allow therapeutic approaches to be tailored to individual patient needs, leading to better health outcomes.

Through SEDMA members and their active collaboration, we ensure the integration of these innovations into practice, thereby contributing to continuous progress in the field of protecting and improving human health.
