Our activity
The vision of the SEDMA association is to make modern and innovative medical technologies in the field of in vitro diagnostics available to patients and the general public, in close cooperation with professional societies and partners operating in the field of healthcare. At the same time, the association actively strives to co-create and improve the quality of the healthcare system, while carrying out all its activities in accordance with the highest ethical standards.

2025 - Within Slovakia, the association also cooperates with other associations in the laboratory medicine segment, especially with the association of medical device manufacturers SK+MED.
Professional societies
2019 – Conference Labkvalita 2019
In 2019, SEDMA actively participated in the conference of the Slovak Society of Clinical Biochemistry, SLS with international participation. This professional conference, entitled Labkvalita 2019, focused on quality in clinical laboratories, was in accordance with the MedTech Europe Code of Ethics for Business Practices and confirmed in the Conference Vetting System. The main topics of this year were pre-analytical and analytical aspects of laboratory diagnostics, the quality of interpretation of results, the quality of post-analytical, the interrelationship of economics and quality in laboratories and the healthcare system, and last but not least, visions, forecasts and perspectives of laboratory diagnostics. SEDMA contributed to the conference program with a lecture "MedTech Europe Code of Ethics - rules and regulations in cooperation with healthcare providers and healthcare professionals", which was prepared and delivered by a renowned lawyer in this field, JUDr. Marta Vališová.
2024 – Cooperation with the Slovak Society of Clinical Biochemistry (SSKB) in the area of support for the professional event XV Congress of SSKB 2024.
Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic
2023 - Negotiations with the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (Department of Categorization, Pricing and Evaluation of Medical Devices and Dietetic Foods, Section of Pharmacy and Drug Policy) in connection with the introduction of new innovative markers into the system of reimbursement by health insurance companies and their evaluation.
2022 – SEDMA sent a request to the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic for methodological guidance on Section 110b(2) of Act 369/2011 Coll.
SUKL
2024 – Organizing training for SEDMA members entitled MDR on the requirements and obligations of suppliers and distributors of medical devices.
2023 – Organizing a webinar for SEDMA members entitled EP and R EU Regulation 2017/746 (IVDR) – regulation from the perspective of ŠÚKL, where current changes and obligations of entities in the field of in vitro diagnostic medical devices were explained in detail.
2022 - In cooperation with ŠÚKL - the Medical Devices Section of SEDMA organized a workshop for its members entitled IVD Labeling.
CZEDMA
2024 – Establishing cooperation with CZEDMA based on regular meetings and supporting the Lab Tests Online project.
