    Presidency

    Dear visitors,
I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the Slovak Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of "in vitro" Diagnostic Medical Devices SEDMA. We believe that the information you will find here will be beneficial to you.

Nowadays, in vitro diagnostics (IVD) offers much more than just traditional tube testing or examination of samples under a microscope. IVD is increasingly used in population-wide screenings and can also reliably predict whether a given drug or therapeutic approach will be effective for a particular patient. At one end of the IVD spectrum are complex automated systems capable of analyzing a huge number of samples with a wide range of examination parameters. At the other end are systems that provide information directly to the user who performs the test himself.

IVD is now a key component of clinical care and a critical factor in determining health needs. Medical decisions are increasingly based on information provided by IVD.

Modern technologies and innovations play a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Among the most significant trends are the use of advanced molecular diagnostics, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), and personalized medicine, which allows for treatment tailored to the individual genetic profile of the patient. Another significant trend is the development and implementation of artificial intelligence and machine learning in diagnostic processes, which significantly increases the accuracy and speed of diagnosis. In addition, point-of-care testing (POCT) provides fast and reliable results directly at the point of care, thereby accelerating treatment decision-making.

With the current trend of population aging and the increase in chronic diseases, the importance of in vitro diagnostics is constantly increasing. Therefore, we want to pay increased attention to it through the members of the Slovak Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Diagnostic Medical Devices "in vitro" SEDMA.

These goals and activities help us ensure that laboratory in vitro diagnostics in Slovakia achieves the highest international standards, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare."
